How big is a 1 minute video?
At 8 megabits per second, 1 minute is 60 MB. At the same bitrate, 10 minutes is 600 MB. Megabytes equal the bitrate times the seconds, divided by 8, because one byte is 8 bits. 8 Mbps is an example you can change. This page calculates a size. It does not open a file, and the size does not predict views.
Calculate a file size
Worked sizes
8 × 60 ÷ 8 = 60 MB. 8 × 600 ÷ 8 = 600 MB. 10 × 60 ÷ 8 = 75 MB. These are decimal megabytes, where 1 MB is 1,000,000 bytes. A file window that counts 1,048,576 bytes per megabyte shows a smaller number. Audio with its own bitrate is extra, and a container can add a little more.
| Bitrate | Length | File size |
|---|---|---|
| 8 Mbps | 1 minute | 60 MB |
| 8 Mbps | 10 minutes | 600 MB |
| 10 Mbps | 1 minute | 75 MB |
How long the words take to say is a different question. The script timer estimates that from a word count.
Questions about video file size
How big is a 1 minute video?
At 8 megabits per second, 1 minute is 60 MB. At 10 megabits per second, 1 minute is 75 MB. Megabytes equal megabits per second times seconds, divided by 8.
How big is a 10 minute video at 8 Mbps?
600 MB. 8 megabits per second times 600 seconds, divided by 8, is 600 MB.
Is this video file size calculator free?
Yes. It runs in your browser. There is no account and no charge.
Does this compress my video?
No. It calculates a size from the bitrate and length you type. It does not open a file. Audio with its own bitrate is extra.
Will a smaller file get more views?
No. This is the size of the file. Views depend on the video, the account, and the platform.
Vlozy makes the video and publishes it to the accounts you connect. This page only calculates a file size. See what Vlozy does.
