YouTube's published card rules
These rules are from YouTube Help, Add info cards to videos, as read on 4 November 2026. You can add up to 5 cards to one video. A card can link to a public video, a public playlist, a channel, or, for a Partner Program channel, an external website. Message and teaser text are optional, and both are required for a channel card. YouTube does not print a character limit for that text. Cards are not available on a video set as made for kids. They will not show if a Content ID owner has set up a campaign. A video with cards will not show a call-to-action overlay.
| Cards | What YouTube prints |
|---|---|
| 1 to 4 | Within 5. |
| 5 | The published maximum. |
| 6 | Over by 1. |
| Channel card | Message and teaser text are required. |
| Link card | Only for a Partner Program channel. |
An end screen is a different element in the end screen calculator. A playlist title is 150 characters in the playlist character counter. A Pinterest video is 4 seconds to 5 minutes in the Pinterest video length checker. The count does not predict views.
